Look: Lions Gaming Online Following OTA Practice

Detroit Lions share OTA updates while playing video games.

The Detroit Lions are becoming much more interactive, especially in the gaming community.

On the first day of organized team activities, defensive back C.J. Gardner-Johnson and running back David Montgomery streamed a video game online following practice.

While Montgomery was donning a Miami Heat jersey, the veteran defensive back donned a Boston Celtics jersey, as the teammates battled in a Celtics vs. Heat NBA contest online.

Montgomery expressed that the defense had the edge on the first day, while Gardner-Johnson noted the offense has the strong capability of being explosive this upcoming season.

During the nearly 30-minute stream, the new teammates discussed why it is important to push teammates and to always remember the reason a teammate sometimes goes a little extra, in terms of motivation.

Gardner-Johnson noted that if he is going in on a young teammate or challenging a teammate in practice, it is because it is part of his role to bring the best out of teammates he is matching up against.

Montgomery did express that losing with the Bears became increasingly challenging, because that was all he became used to.

"It sucked the fun out of the game for me, because I am a competitor," Montgomery said. "I like to compete. That is what football is about. It is so refreshing to be at a place where I am appreciated."
