New England Patriots All-Pro cornerback Stephon Gilmore has been named the AFC's Defensive Player of the Month for October by the NFL.

Gilmore has two interceptions and seven passes defended and 11 tackles over the past four weeks. His most recent elite performance came against the Cleveland Browns when he held Odell Beckham Jr. to five receptions for 52 yards.

The Patriots' No. 1 cornerback becomes the second player in New England's secondary to win this award. Safety and captain Devin McCourty earned the honor in September.
