Mohamed Sanu on Playing Sunday vs Browns: 'I'm Ready If They Want Me to Go'
Even though reports had surfaced on Tuesday that Atlanta Falcons veteran receiver Mohamed Sanu had been traded to the New England Patriots in exchange for a 2020 second-round pick, the trade hasn't been made official by either team yet.
For Sanu - it doesn't matter. He's ready to play for the Patriots as soon as possible.
During a conversation with ESPN's Josina Anderson last night, Sanu responded to if he will be playing in the Patriots' Week 8 game against the Cleveland Browns.
"We'll see what the plan is," Sanu said. "I'm ready if they want me to go."
The 30 year old wideout also said he's "excited to build a relationship" with a "new fanbase & community."
Chances are, Sanu won't be suiting up for New England's game this Sunday. If he were to be officially traded today, he would only get three full days of practice in. New England is not in desperate need of his services against a disappointing Browns squad. So, we likely won't see Sanu suit up in a Patriots uniform until Week 9 when New England takes on the Baltimore Ravens.
The Patriots still need to make a roster spot for Sanu, which is part of the reason why the trade hasn't been made official yet. They could designate a player to injured reserve, or release a player to clear space for him. Keep an eye out this week to see how they go about it.
