BREAKING: Patriots Re-Sign Hunter Henry

The New England Patriots have locked up one of their top free agents.

The New England Patriots have re-signed top tight end Hunter Henry just days before he was scheduled to hit the open market, NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reports.

The contract is reportedly a three-year deal worth $27 million base with a maximum value of $30 million.

Henry, 29, was slated to be one of the top tight ends available in free agency this offseason, but the Patriots manage to keep him in New England.

As the Patriots look to overhaul their offense this offseason, bringing back the reliable Henry is great news for whoever ends up being the new quarterback.

Henry came to New England in 2021, as he was part of the Patriots' big spending spree that offseason, and he was one of the better signings in that class.

Over his three seasons in Foxboro, the former Arkansas star has 133 receptions for 1,531 yards and 17 touchdowns. Even after the Patriots added Mike Gesicki last offseason, Henry retained his spot as the team's top tight end.

Before that, Henry spent the first five years of his career with the San Diego/Los Angeles Chargers. The 2016 second-round pick was quite solid in Southern California, but it's safe to say he has improved since coming to New England.

Henry has not been to a Pro Bowl yet, but he's still a very solid tight end that many in the Patriots organization are thrilled to have back.
