Patriots Ex Chandler Jones: 'I Don't Want to Play for Raiders Coach Josh McDaniels!'

Chandler Jones, the former first-round pick of New England, and his coach Josh McDaniels, who also has Patriots ties, are in the middle of controversy with the Las Vegas Raiders.

The start of the 2023 NFL season is here ... but the Las Vegas Raiders, as constructed according to a sort of "Patriot Way'' blueprint, are not.

That is to say, Chandler Jones, the former first-round pick of the New England Patriots and an All-Pro edge rusher, and his coach Josh McDaniels - who also has Patriots ties - are not here, together, ready to team up in Week 1.

Jones is posting on social media that he doesn't want to play for the Raiders if "that is my head coach or GM.''

What is Jones' specific problem with former New England coordinator McDaniels and Las Vegas general manager Dave Ziegler. He posted something about having to "work out at a local gym'' instead of at the team facility, claimed that the Raiders are in contract with an ex-girlfriend of his (for reasons unknown) and offered evidence that the team recently sent a fire and rescue person to his home as a sort of wellness check.

"You need to come with us,'' Jones quotes the attendant as saying. "You're in danger.''

The Raiders - who Jones posted should be coached by defensive coordinator Patrick Graham and not by McDaniels - play the Denver Broncos in Week 1. McDaniels is characterizing the situation as "day-to-day,'' which is obviously understating the problem that exists in Las Vegas between two prominent figures with New England ties ... who right now do not seem very tied together at all.
