Jack Jones Posts Surprising Reaction To New England Patriots Release

Former New England Patriots cornerback Jack Jones doesn't seem too upset after the team released him on Monday.

The story of Jack Jones is a cautionary tale of how fragile NFL careers truly are.

The 2022 fourth-round pick out of Arizona State had a solid rookie season for the New England Patriots, recording six passes defended and two interceptions, including a pick six. However, 2023 has been nothing short of a disaster for the once-promising cornerback.

In June, Jones was arrested at Boston's Logan Airport after two loaded guns were found in his luggage, although the chargers were later dropped in September. The 25-year-old also missed the early part of the season with injury, and once he returned, he was relegated to a backup role. The breaking point came when Jones reportedly missed team curfew before a Nov. 5 game against the Washington Commanders, and after he played a career-low 10 snaps against the Indianapolis Colts a week later, the Patriots released the second-year corner on Monday.

Despite his release, Jones doesn't seem too upset. On Monday night, the now-former Patriot posted a pair of praying emojis on X (formerly Twitter) seemingly in reaction to his exit from New England.

Based on the reaction from both Jones and the team, it seems like this decision was in the best interest of both parties. On Tuesday morning, coach Bill Belichick spoke publicly about Jones' release for the first time.

"Talented player," Belichick said, " ... just felt like it was time to move on."

Jones was part of the Patriots' 2022 draft class that is already looking like a disaster only a year and a half later, and despite clearly having talent on the field, his issues just became too much to handle.
