Former Patriots Star Joining NFL CBS Booth

The New England Patriots' takeover of pro football broadcasts is set to continue with Jason McCourty entering the NFL on CBS' booth.

A New England Patriots Super Bowl champion will finally make his way into the broadcasting booth this fall. No, not that one.

Per Andrew Marchand of the New York Post, former Patriots defender Jason McCourty is set to serve as an analyst for "a handful" of games for CBS' NFL coverage. McCourty will join the broadcasting ranks alongside his identical twin brother Devin, who is set to appear on NBC's Sunday night pregame show "Football Night in America" following his retirement from 13 NFL seasons in New England.

Jason played three seasons of a matching 13-year career (2009-21) in New England, having also worked with Tennessee, Cleveland, and Miami. In Patriots lore, Jason is perhaps best known for preserving a New England Super Bowl lead against the Los Angeles Rams, breaking up a would-be touchdown pass from Jared Goff to Brandin Cooks in the 53rd edition. That deflection was one of the turning points of a 13-3 victory that stands as the Patriots' most recent Vince Lombardi Trophy hoist.

Marchand mentioned that the sports media world is "very high" on Jason's debut, as he previously received positive reviews for his work in NFL radio coverage on Westwood One. Jason has also appeared on "Good Morning Football," NFL Network's morning talk show.

The McCourtys aren't the only new-century NFL stars moving onto the booth: Marchand also reported that former New York Giants rusher Tiki Barber will have a full schedule for CBS, whose 65th year of NFL coverage is set to kick off on Sept. 10. The Patriots' opener against the Philadelphia Eagles is part of the opening late afternoon slate.
