New England Patriots Lose 10-6, Bill Belichick & 2 QBs Fail vs. Colts: WATCH
They may be on a different continent this week, but the New England Patriots look largely like the same team they've been all season.
After yet another sluggish performance, Bill Belichick and company have lost to the Indianapolis Colts 10-6 in Frankfurt, Germany. ... with coach Belichick's decision to change QBs late in the game only adding to the frustration.
Out went Mac Jones, who was awful. In for the final possession came Bailey Zappe, who was ... awful. Zappe threw an interception into triple-coverage, appeared to blame his receiver's route, all of which gave the hot-seated Belichick a headache, as you can see here...
The Patriots actually drew first blood with a field goal on their opening drive, marching 61 yards in almost seven minutes. The Colts then answered with a touchdown on their first possession, going 75 yards in host over seven minutes. After those two drives, though, the rest of the first half consisted of both teams just exchanging punts, with neither really impressing on offense. Indianapolis attempted a field goal at the end of the half, but Matt Gay's 57-yard attempt fell just short.
Like much of the season to this point, the Patriots' offense hasn't done much through 30 minutes. New England had just 106 yards and six first downs in the first half, and after a field goal on the opening drive, the offense didn't really get going.
And it "got going'' even less later, with offensive coordinator Bill O'Brien only able to scream about it.
Mac Jones completed 15 of 20 for 170 and a pick. Zappe was 3 of 7 for 20 and a pick. And Belichick, whose team just dropped to an NFL-worst 2-8? The headaches might be just beginning.
