Al Michaels on Patriots: 'No Shortage of Storylines'

The Week 14 matchup vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers will kick-off a stretch of three-straight prime-time games for the New England Patriots.

The New England Patriots will appear in four primetime games in 2023, including traveling to Pittsburgh to take on the Steelers on Thursday night in Week 14. The matchup vs. the Steelers kicks off a stretch of three-straight primetime games for New England.

It's a quick turnaround for the Patriots, who will play the Chargers in Los Angeles the Sunday before their short week. Highlighted by the defensive brilliance of Patriots coach Bill Belichick and Steelers coach Mike Tomlin, the game will also feature two young quarterbacks in Kenny Pickett and Mac Jones.

New England's game vs. the Steelers will be on on Prime Video's Thursday Night Football. TNF will feature matchups between all 14 playoff teams from last season. This comes after a lackluster 2022 season slate of rough matchups.

The 2023 Amazon Prime matchups look much better. Sports Illustrated's Jimmy Traina reached out to TNF's lead voice, Al Michaels for his take on the schedule, who says there is storylines galore for this season's slate.

“Love the way we come out of the gate," Michaels said. "Three ‘A’ grade games. Two Aaron Rodgers games. Baltimore-Cincinnati, another good one. League did us a solid.

“I was raring to go the minute I saw the whole slate. Already thinking of story lines for each game, of which there is no shortage.”

On one of the biggest shopping days of the year, Prime Video will make history with the presentation of the very first NFL Black Friday game on November 24, as the Jets host the Dolphins.

“Great idea," Michaels said. "Tens of millions recovering from the prior day’s tryptophan hangover will love it. Rodgers-Tua, a marquee matchup on any day.”

Wins football fans and for Prime Video... For the Patriots, who have the worst odds to win the AFC East Division, hopefully a Thursday night win as well.

A busy month of December and a possible snow game for New England in Pittsburgh. Last season, New England defeated Pittsburgh 17-14 at Acrisure Stadium. Another win on the road could go a long way for Jones and the Patriots in 2023.
