GOAT Boat! Patriots' Icon Tom Brady Joins New League

Former New England Patriots' quarterback Tom Brady continues to diversify his interests in retirement, now becoming an owner in a new electric-powered boat racing league.

The GOAT now has a boat. Further diversifying his interests in retirement, former New England Patriots' quarterback Tom Brady announced Thursday that he is becoming an owner in a new electric-powered boat racing league.

Brady is joining the UIM E1 World Championship League, where starting in 2024 he will own a boat that will race against the likes of tennis legend Rafael Nadal, Formula 1 driver Sergio Perez and former soccer star Didier Drogba. The league promises to feature all-electric boats that compete on tight courses at speeds of up to 100 mph.

"UIM E1 World Championship combines several things l love," Brady said in social media promotional video. "Speed, intensity, being on the water, intense competition, and innovative leaders. My message to our competition: be prepared for second place because we are aiming for the top! LFG!!!"

Brady, 45, says he fell in love with the boat culture following his move from Foxboro to Tampa after the 2019 season. The E1 league plans to have 10 teams and mixed-gender drivers, possibly including Brady behind the wheel at some point.

"You're damn right I'm going to be in that cockpit at some point," Brady said. "I love speed! I love driving fast!"

Since his second - and final? - retirement last February, Brady has remained busy. He's become part owner of the WNBA's Las Vegas Aces, the NFL's Las Vegas Raiders and Major League Pickleball, while also finding time to attend enough parties to keep the gossip columnists happy with supposed romantic links to Veronika Rajek and Kim Kardashian.

We're assuming Brady will keep his cluttered calendar clear for Sept. 10, when he will be honored at the Pats' season opener against the defending NFC champion Philadelphia Eagles at Gillette Stadium.
