Patriots Legend Tom Brady - With Kitten - Responds to Unretirement Rumors
A 2-month-old kitten has done what the Cincinnati Bengals, Jacksonville Jaguars, Carolina Panthers and more failed to do for nearly two decades: stop Tom Brady.
It took less than a month after Super Bowl LVII's final snap to officially start the Brady rumor mill, one that once again linked the New England Patriots legend to their Floridian divisional rivals, the Miami Dolphins. Such gossip arose on "The Rich Eisen Show," where the eponymous NFL Network host claimed "a couple birdies at the (NFL Scouting) Combine" told him that Brady would consider taking his talents to South Beach, continuing his Sunshine State saga after spending the past three seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
But Brady himself snuffed out the idea of aquamarine dreams on Twitter, blaming a new addition to the Brady family for keeping him away from the field.
"Anyone who thinks I have time to come back to the NFL has never adopted a 2-month-old kitten for their daughter," Brady responded.
Miami, of course, is no stranger to the never-ending Brady story, having previously been linked to the seven-time champion during his divorce from the Patriots after the 2019-20 season. Such conversations drew the NFL's attention for tampering and eventually cost the Dolphins the 21st overall pick in this spring's draft. The health of current franchise thrower Tua Tagovailoa has caused some Miami observers to theorize that the Dolphins would find an insurance option as they seek to improve on a 9-8 season that produced their first playoff appearance in six seasons.
Brady's clarification will likely do little to quell the storm around his supposed NFL departure, one that will seemingly never fully dissipate. But, for the time being, the surefire Hall-of-Famer stepped in to scratch out the idea himself.
