Patriots Nemesis Warns AFC East About Aaron Rodgers' Jets: 'Rabbit's Got Gun Now!'

Former New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan loves the trade for quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

The New York Jets finally - after a breathless, month-long wait - traded for four-time MVP Aaron Rodgers this week. One of the loudest supporters of the deal from the Jets' perspective is none other than their former head coach, Rex Ryan.

“Watch out, everybody. Here come the Jets.” Ryan said on ESPN Tuesday morning. “We haven’t had this type of quarterback since, maybe, ever — since (Joe) Namath. This is the missing piece. Guess what, all you fans of the AFC East? It ain’t no fun when the rabbit’s got the gun. We got the gun right now. Our defense is better than yours, our quarterback’s better than yours. It is on."

The long-awaited blockbuster deal, which sent the 39-year-old Rodgers, a 2023 first-round pick (No. 15) and a 2023 fifth-round pick (No. 170) to the New England Patriots' divisional rival, now tightens the AFC East that saw all four teams win at least seven games a season ago.

And while New York finished last in division in 2022, the addition of Rodgers has catapulted them to the biggest contender for the Buffalo Bills.

"This is a great move right here," Ryan added. "They are going for it and they should. They have a playoff-caliber defense and now you got the quarterback. We just put you on notice, and guess what? We’re gonna kick your butt.”

Still looking for his first career division title, Patriots quarterback Mac Jones looks to defy those odds which rank New England as the worst team in the AFC East heading in 2023.
