For the Las Vegas Raiders, the NFL Draft Can't Come Fast Enough

The Las Vegas Raiders have the opportunity to turn their recent luck around by having a productive NFL Draft.

As the 2024 NFL Draft gets closer, the excitement and buzz around each team’s draft plans continue to grow.

That is especially the case for the Las Vegas Raiders, who won three of their last four games to end the season and were a solid Gardner Mishew performance away from finishing on a four-game win streak. While the most recent version of the Raiders to take the field was a severely flawed roster, General Manager Tom Telesco has come in and quickly made a few quality additions and subtractions to the roster.

The Raiders have multiple glaring roster needs that must be addressed. However, many in the fanbase, and maybe even in their organization, hope for them to make another splash in the draft by trading up to select one of the draft’s top quarterbacks. The Raiders have a new coach, and the players have responded well, which has made the offseason and upcoming draft one of the most exciting in recent memory for the franchise.

It is also worth noting that although the Raiders' offensive line needs to add multiple players to its starting unit and its group of reserves, they have done a good enough job filling as many voids as they could on their roster this offseason. This means they are just a few adequately selected draft picks away from being a legitimate playoff contender instead of a fringe playoff contender like they were this past season.

One of the best parts of the draft coming and going is that the team will likely start making moves in free agency again after the dust settles from the draft. Then, the Raiders will have a better idea of what they need and can begin to fill whatever voids may be left. Adding a productive draft haul with the moves they have already made in free agency and the moves they will continue to make in free agency is reason enough to be excited.

What they do in the draft will impact the rest of their roster plans this summer. The Raiders must select the correct player. The chance to add one of the top players in the draft, either by trading up or staying put at No. 13, has brought more excitement to the Silver and Black than they have had around them in a long time. For a team that barely missed the playoffs last season, has a new coach and is adding quality talent across the board, the NFL Draft cannot come soon enough.

The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently have the No. 13 overall pick.
