Despite Questions, Raiders have O-Line Stability

The Las Vegas Raiders' offensive line should have another good season in 2024 because of three players.

The Las Vegas Raiders’ offensive line has been one of the strongest units on the team in the last two seasons.

The group has found stability in opening up running lanes for its running backs and protecting the quarterback, particularly because of the left side of the line.

Raiders left tackle Kolton Miller has been one of the best players in the league at his position for years, left guard Dylan Parham made strides in his second season as a Raider, and center Andre James has been a stabilizing presence in the middle since he took over as the starter.

Miller earned an 80.2 Pro Football Focus grade in 2023 despite missing four games. Parham, meanwhile, improved as a pass blocker and allowed just one sack, while James earned the best PFF grade of his career at 74.6.

The Raiders have question marks at right guard and right tackle at the moment but could easily address them through free agency or the 2024 NFL Draft. There are several talented right tackles and interior offensive linemen the Raiders could add through either method.

If the Raiders find quality options at right guard and tackle, they could have a third straight season as a top-10 offensive line in the NFL. Offenses set the tone through the trenches with toughness. Raiders coach Antonio Pierce promotes toughness and competitiveness, so strengthening the offensive line may be a priority.

The Raiders have a new offensive line coach in James Cregg. Cregg comes from the San Francisco 49ers, who have had a dominant run game in the last few seasons. He will try to maintain the level of consistency the Raiders have had while implementing some of the tactics that made the 49ers' offensive line an elite unit.

Las Vegas also hired Luke Getsy as their new offensive coordinator. Getsy’s Chicago Bears were at the top of the league in rushing attempts in his two seasons there. The new Raiders coach implements a run-heavy scheme with lots of play-action, so the Raiders’ offensive line will have to continue to hold up in both regards.

When the Raiders address the right side of their offensive line, they have a great chance to build continuity as one of the top units in the league. Many pieces are in place for them to maintain that stature in 2024.

The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently have the No. 13 overall pick.
