Raiders C Andre James Talks New-Look O-Line Room

Las Vegas Raiders center Andre James is going to be amongst some new faces in the offensive line room next season.

The Las Vegas Raiders will have a different looking offensive line next season.

With the departure of offensive tackle Jermaine Eluemunor, as well as the addition of new interior offensive lineman Cody Whitehair and likely one or more prospects from this month's draft, it's clear there are going to be some changes up front.

Raiders center Andre James, who has been in this offensive line room for the past five years, will be -- as of now -- one of three returning full-time starters from last season

"Yeah, we're going to have some new faces," James told reporters on Monday. "We only have a couple guys returning. We have a lot of guys who left, but we're looking forward to whoever we get up here in the draft and whoever we can fill in. We got Cody Whitehair in here today. Awesome guy, I just met him today. And yeah, it's nice having a vet like that come in with a lot of the experience that he's had. It's only just going to benefit the whole offensive line room."

Whitehair was just signed by the Raiders on Monday. He joins the Silver and Black after eight seasons with the Chicago Bears, who drafted him in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft. He made 11 starts at left guard for Chicago last season.

"Oh, it's going to be awesome [having Whitehair]," James said. "I was just talking to him today, just some of the schemes and some of the things that they ran. It's always helpful having a guy who's familiar with the offense, familiar with the scheme and the system, especially in the offensive line room, just to kind of pick his brain and kind of get some of the keys and some of the information that he's gotten for a long time there working with the Bears. So, I'm super excited to have him."

Whitehair and James are both experienced interior linemen. The former is even a one-time Pro Bowler and has seen significantly more snaps throughout his career than James. Perhaps even James will have someone to look to for guidance this upcoming season.

The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently have the No. 13 overall pick.
