Raiders' Maxx Crosby Talks Struggles With injury Last Season

While turning in the best season of his career so far, Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby was also dealing with the worst injury of his NFL career last season.

Las Vegas Raiders All-Pro edge rusher Maxx Crosby has been defying the odds his whole career as a football player.

Last season, he did so in a different way. While dealing with a painful knee injury throughout almost the entire 2023 season, Crosby wasn't even expected to play in some games. In fact, he was even ruled "doubtful" going into the Raiders' Christmas Day game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

But Crosby fought through the pain and helped will his team to a victory over the eventual Super Bowl champions.

Crosby still managed to play every game in the 2023 season and ultimately finished with his best campaign yet.

"I mean it was a challenge without a doubt, but that's what comes with this game," Crosby told reporters on Monday. "I look at myself like a warrior. You're going to have to kill me to take me off the field, and I tell my coaches that. It sounds crazy, but it's the truth. Like, I don't look at this like a game, this is my life, I put everything into it, I work literally all year round.

"Like, Ashley right here was like, 'Do you ever go on vacation,' but like, I'm here every single day. This [expletive] is not made up. It's not a facade. It's nothing. I talk about what I do every day, and I take a lot of pride in it. So yeah, I was definitely banged up, my knee was an issue, but I was able to play. I definitely don't want to do that again and go through that, draining it multiple times every week, it was a pain in the ass, and then we made it through, so it was even more motivation when people were like, 'shut it down, shut it down, shut it down.' I was like, 'No, like I'm not like everybody else to be completely honest,' and I just had to keep moving.

"So, recovery and everything, rehab has been incredible. I just did my conditioning test last week and smashed it, and I'm feeling better than I ever have. So, it's been an incredible offseason so far."

The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently have the No. 13 overall pick.
