The Las Vegas Raiders traded up for the third time on Day 3, exchanging their No. 204 and No. 220 overall picks for the 170th pick (fifth round) of the 2023 NFL Draft.

With that pick, the Raiders selected Georgia defensive back Christopher Smith II, a finalist for the 2022 Bronko Nagurski Award, given annually to the nation's top defensive player.

Smith comes off an impressive 2022 season in which he received first-team All-American honors from the Associated Press, the Football Writers Association of America, Walter Camp and the Sporting News. He also was named to the All-SEC First Team by the AP and coaches.

Smith finished the season with 61 tackles, five for a losses, five pass breakups, three interceptions, a sack, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery while starting all 15 games en route helping the Bulldogs to their second consecutive national title.

The season before, Smith registered 35 tackles and three interceptions (one pick six) in 12 games (11 starts). He played a total of four seasons for Georgia, ultimately recording 133 tackles, five for losses, six interceptions, 16 passes defensed, a sack and two touchdowns.

Smith earned a production score of 78 (fourth-best among safeties) from NFL Next Gen Stats for his performance at the 2023 NFL Combine.
