Jenkins, Crosby Talk Raiders DL Camaraderie

Las Vegas Raiders defensive linemen John Jenkins and Maxx Crosby raved about the culture they have created.

NFL teams can be as talented as they want, but they will only be successful if their teammates get along and play as a cohesive unit.

Las Vegas Raiders star Maxx Crosby wants the Raiders to play together, so he has cultivated a tight-knit culture with his defensive line teammates.

Crosby has gotten along so well with his teammates that several joined him on the latest episode of his podcast, "The Rush With Maxx Crosby. "

Malcolm Koonce, Tyree Wilson, John Jenkins, and Adam Butler all made an appearance to chat with Crosby and his co-hosts.

Crosby spoke in depth about the significance of the culture he and his defensive line teammates have created.

“We all were so tight-knit, and we did everything together,” he said. “We had our D-Line dinners every Thursday. It was something we focused on from day one; we were going to be tight-knit. We’re going to get to know each other, we’re going to spend time with each other, and the s--- was competitive every single day in everything we did. We would be going back and forth, arguing, whatever, but at the end of the day, we built that trust.

“I feel like that took our D-Line to a whole other level, and people got to see that on Sunday."

Jenkins recalled a story about when he first joined the Raiders and his first impression of Koonce.

“I’m like, ‘Yo, you have to realize I’m used to being with the Cam Jordans, the Pernell McPhees and all those guys," Jenkins said. "They’re like 6’6, 6’7, whatever; I look at Malc, I’m like, ‘Bro, I know damn well you’re not about to start setting the edge on third down.’”

Jenkins eventually echoed Crosby’s sentiment about how strong the culture was among the defensive linemen on the team.

“The competition, the competitive nature that we built in that room, and Maxx spearheaded the charge, it was easy for me to be like, ‘Oh, he’s a dog," Jenkins said. "So now, we just start feeding off of each other. We know football. We know what it takes to be a good football player but sometimes, a lot of us don’t have that mental approach to be a good football player.”

Crosby will continue to lead the way for himself and his teammates in 2024. The group wants to be great; as Jenkins said, they have the mindset to make it happen.
