Will Raiders Add to D-Line in Free Agency?

The Las Vegas Raiders will begin retooling their offense this offseason. However, their defense could use some help as well, especially along their defensive line.

The Las Vegas Raiders' defense improved significantly last season, sustaining their improved play over an entire season confirmed as much.

However, the season is now over and in the National Football League, you're either getting better or you're getting worse, there is no staying the same. So, the Raiders must find ways to improve an already improved defense.

Las Vegas has enough talent on defense to where they only need to improve a few positions slightly. The defensive line is one of those position groups the Raiders must focus on this offseason.

They Raiders officially solidified their edge rushers with veterans Maxx Crosby and Malcolm Koonce. Now, the Raiders must address their interior defensive line.

"Around the NFL" writer Nick Shook believes the Raiders should use free agency to add to their defensive line. Specifically, Shook believes the Raiders should consider Danielle Hunter, who has spent his eight-season career with the Minnesota Vikings and was voted to the Pro Bowl in four of those seasons.

The Las Vegas Raiders must consider free-agent options like Danielle Hunter to help bolster their defensive line.

"Despite operating under different leadership regimes, the Raiders have spent the last few years conducting business in the veteran edge rusher market, pairing Maxx Crosby with the likes of Yannick Ngakoue and Chandler Jones," Shook said.

"New GM Tom Telesco could take a similar approach in his first year leading the Silver and Black, adding a seasoned menace in a fashion not unlike the one that saw him bring Khalil Mack to Los Angeles.

"With nearly $43 million to spend, the Raiders can afford to make such a move for a player who proved he can make it work, no matter the scheme, with 16.5 sacks to prove his worth in 2023."

The Raiders are a few quality additions to their interior defensive line, linebacker, and cornerback rooms from being one of the best defenses in the NFL. Las Vegas using free agency to address both their defensive and offensive lines will be one of the wisest things they could do.

The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently hold the No. 13 overall pick.
