Jimmy Garoppolo 1-0 as Starting QB Against the Steelers

Las Vegas Raiders starting quarterback Jimmy Garopppolo is 1-0 in his career against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Las Vegas Raiders are continuing to prepare for their home opener in Allegiant Stadium against the Pittsburgh Steelers this Sunday evening.

This Sunday will be worth noting as it will be the second time in Jimmy Garoppolo's career that he gets to play the Pittsburgh Steelers as a starting quarterback.

Garoppolo is 1-0 as a starting quarterback against the Steelers. The only time he played the Steelers was during the 2019 season in late September, when he was the starting quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers.

During that game, Garoppolo completed 23of-32 passes and threw one touchdown pass. However, he did throw two interceptions against the Steelers and their very talented defense when he played them last. He finished the game with a quarterback of 82.4.

Garoppolo already has three interceptions this season with the Silver and Black. He had the chance to speak to the media after the Sunday loss to the Bills on how to be better overall as the Raiders starting quarterback.

"I thought we got off to a good start like we wanted to," Garoppolo said. "We talked about it all week, doing that, but we didn't sustain it. It starts with me. I made way too many mistakes -- physical, mental, all of it. We couldn't get into a rhythm. To beat a good team like that at their place, you've got to play a lot better than that.

"There are little things we've got to do. We'll go watch the film, but little things. [The Bills] played a great game, don't get me wrong, but we just made too many self-inflicted errors."

Garoppolo looks to bounce back against the Steelers with a win in the Raiders' season home opener in Allegiant Stadium and go 2-0 in his career against Pittsburgh. It's classic battle between an AFC West team and an AFC North team.

The Silver and Black return home to Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas to play the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, Sept. 24, at 8:20 p.m. EDT/5:20 p.m. PDT.
