Derek Carr Sitting on Precipice of a Career Season in 2020
Henderson, Nev. -- Derek Carr is about to shove down the throats of his critics a career 2020 season for the Las Vegas Raiders.
That is a bold, but relatively easy prediction for me to make. Carr is an elite quarterback who has suffered criticism at the hands of the woefully ignorant or a national media taking the low hanging fruit of an enormous fan base in a click-bait culture.
With no optional team spring workouts or preseason games, the Raiders star recently discussed how 2020 has the feel of a college season.
"Yeah, a lot of college or high school games where you didn't have anybody's film," Carr recalled. "You didn't even really know who was on the team kind of thing. You just do your best. That's what you do. We're going to go out there and do our best with the limited resources we have. I'm pretty sure we'll be ready to go. We'll make the adjustments that we'll need to make, but I'm excited for Week 1."
Carr had terrific numbers on a flawed 2019 team riddled with injury. The 2020 edition of the Silver and Black is fortunate to have many of their weapons back and healthy.
That's something Carr is thrilled with.
"We had a little meeting with the players," Carr said. "We made a joke about some of the guys who've been around for the last four years. I think there's only four guys on our team from the certain point that we were talking about, which usually isn't a great recipe for success for you.
"I think that going into this game, it's really nice to have a core group of guys that've been together a while. It's pretty much history, if you look back at the teams that have stayed together, they usually play well together."
