Some NFL draft philosophies dictate it's not the position that you draft, but rather the number of picks you have that can create a successful draft scenario for a general manager.

The Los Angeles Rams and GM Les Snead is one of those, and it shows in his history.

The Rams currently hold 11 picks this season, a lot by any standard, but that doesn't mean he doesn't want more. And in the latest Rams NFL Mock Draft from Draft Wire, they've got him trading down to create more picks.

In the first round, Draft Wire has the Rams moving down six spots from No. 36 to No. 42 in exchange for the 55th overall pick. Then at No. 42, Snead and the Rams collect Kansas State pass rusher Felix Anudike-Uzomah to bolster the defense for 2023 and beyond.

Then, at No. 55, they add South Carolina cornerback Cam Smith, another likely starter from Day 1 with the team. And in the third round, they are able to add BYU offensive tackle Blake Freeland and Wake Forest wide receiver A.T. Perry.

It's important to note that although this is just a hypothetical mock draft, it's something that is well within the capacity of Snead to pull off, or something similar.

And the moves are significant because the addition of these three players in the first round would be tremendous for the Rams. They need help everywhere regardless of reported "roster needs" and it's best to pick the best player available when possible.
