'Back to Work': Rams Kobie Turner Sends Message After Losing Defensive Rookie of the Year

After suffering the disappointment of not bringing home the award for the NFL's Defensive Rookie of the Year, Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Kobie Turner is already turning the page.

Despite having one of the best rookie seasons for a Los Angeles Rams defensive lineman since Aaron Donald, Kobie Turner did not win the NFL's Defensive Rookie of the Year award.

Instead, the Houston Texans' Will Anderson took home the award. While Turner, Jalen Carter (Philadelphia Eagles), Joey Porter Jr. (Pittsburgh Steelers), and Devon Witherspoon (Seattle Seahawks) finished behind him in the voting.

However, even after suffering the disappointment of not taking home, Turner took to Twitter to send the message that he would turn the page to next season.

"Back to work," Turner wrote Thursday night.

It is likely the same mindset that would be echoed by two of Turner's teammates, receiver Puka Nacua and quarterback Matthew Stafford, who also didn't take in the respective awards they were up for.

Yet, even without the honor of being named the Defensive Rookie of the Year, Turner can still keep the title of being an "overachiever." This is something that likely can be said of the Rams draft class as a whole, as they helped the team make an unexpected playoff appearance just one season after going 5-12.

Playing alongside Donald, Turner totaled 57 tackles, eight for a loss, 16 quarterback hits, and nine sacks as a rookie. Now that the Rams have turned the page on 2023, Turner will look to have an even better 2024.
