Joe Flacco Wins NFL Comeback Player of the Year Over Matthew Stafford, Others

Despite a great bounce-back season, Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford missed out on winning the NFL Comeback Player of the Year to Damar Hamlin.

Cleveland Browns quarterback Joe Flacco won the NFL Comeback Player of the Year Award during the NFL Honors show on Thursday night, beating out Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford.

Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin and Tampa Bay Buccaneers and former Rams quarterback Baker Mayfield were also nominated for the award.

Heading into the night, Hamlin was the significant favorite for the honor, only for Flacco to take home the award. Still, that should not take away from the bounce-back performance Stafford put on this season.

Coming into this year, there were questions about whether or not the veteran quarterback would return to his former self and bounce back.

Safe to say, that he all of those questions to rest.

Stafford finished the year with just under 4000 yards and 24 touchdowns. He was selected to the NFC Pro Bowl team after really heating up following the Rams' bye in week 10. Following their bye, the Rams only lost one game the rest of the year, finishing with a 10-7 record and making it to the playoffs.

The Rams have all of the pieces to go deeper in the playoffs next year, especially now that their veteran quarterback is back to his old ways again. Stafford has confirmed that he is back for at least one more season, as he has jokingly said the Rams are "stuck with him."

Stafford was one of three Rams that have been named as a finalist for an award alongside rookies Puka Nacua and Kobie Turner.
