Rams Ex Odell Beckham Jr. Drops Bold Take About Super Bowl LVI: '250 Yards!'
After catching two passes for 52 yards and scoring the opening touchdown of Super Bowl LVI, it appeared that former Los Angeles Rams receiver Odell Beckham Jr. was on track for a massive game.
However, he suffered a knee injury in the second quarter, forcing him to miss the rest of the game. It was later revealed that Beckham had torn his ACL.
If he had not been injured, Beckham could have outperformed Cooper Kupp, who hauled in eight passes for 92 yards and two touchdowns and could have been named the Super Bowl LVI MVP.
In a recent interview with Peter King in this week's edition of "Football Morning in America," Beckham revealed that he believes he would have broken Hall of Fame receiver Jerry Rice's record of 215 yards in one Super Bowl if he had played the entire game.
“People have no idea what I was actually gonna do that day,” Beckham said. “It was gonna be the day where I catch 15 balls, maybe 250 yards. The game plan was for me. We would’ve beat ‘em 42-17.”
Fans can speculate about what Beckham could have achieved in that Super Bowl. But judging from his performance during his brief appearance in the game, it's reasonable to assume that he was poised to put up significant numbers against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Due to the focus on Kupp, Beckham was set to play a crucial role in the offense that day. However, the team was fortunate enough to secure a victory without the contributions of the three-time Pro Bowl receiver for most of the game.
