Los Angeles Rams' Playoff Odds Drop Following Overtime Loss to Baltimore Ravens

How were the Los Angeles Rams' playoff odds affected by their overtime loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday?

The Los Angeles Rams were one of the hottest teams in the NFL entering Week 14, and they almost carried that momentum through Sunday, had they not lost 37-31 in overtime to the Baltimore Ravens.

The Rams are still in the playoff hunt, which is remarkable in itself considering their 3-6 start to the season, but their odds of making the postseason took a dip with Sunday's loss to the Ravens. According to The New York Times, L.A.'s odds of reaching the playoffs are smaller than they were entering the week, but some of that will also be affected by Monday night's game between the Green Bay Packers and the New York Giants.

You can see the current playoff odds and relevant scenarios below.

  • Pre-Week 14 playoff odds: 48%
  • Current playoff odds: 33%
  • Playoff odds with a Packers win: 31%
  • Playoff odds with a Giants win: 38%

Of course, all of this would improve if the Rams manage to win out in the remainder of their schedule, but that is no small task. Even with very-winnable games upcoming against the Washington Commanders, New Orleans Saints and New York Giants, Los Angeles will close out its regular season with a road trip to face the San Francisco 49ers in Week 18.

The Niners currently hold the No. 1 seed in the NFC and have looked dominant against stiff competition in recent weeks.

The Rams continuing to stack up wins will obviously help, but some of the final say will boil down to what teams like the Packers, Vikings and Seahawks are able to do down the stretch. Green Bay has also been in the midst of turning its season around recently, picking up a win over the Kansas City Chiefs on "Sunday Night Football" last week.

For now, Los Angeles can only focus on winning its own games moving forward (and rooting against a few other teams along the way). The Rams will host the Commanders at 1:25 p.m. PT on Sunday, and the game will be televised on CBS.
