Rams' Sean McVay Endorses Deion Sanders As NFL Coach: 'He's A Motivator!'

Los Angeles Rams coach Sean McVay believes NFL legend Deion Sanders, who is taking over college football with the Colorado Buffaloes, would be a great professional coach.

A new sensation is sweeping over the college football world in the form of Colorado Buffaloes coach Deion Sanders.

Widely considered the greatest NFL cornerback ever, Sanders left HBCU Jackson State during the offseason to accept a Power Five gig at Colorado. "Coach Prime," as he's known, remade the Buffaloes' roster in his image, making sweeping changes through the transfer portal. Many believed that Sanders' team would struggle this season, but with big wins over TCU and Nebraska to open the season, the Buffaloes have defied those expectations.

In just his first two games, Sanders has gained a legion of fans across the country. One of those fans just so happens to be one of the best coaches in the NFL, Sean McVay of the Los Angeles Rams. In an interview with ESPN Los Angeles, McVay revealed that he believes Sanders could be a great coach at the NFL level.

"Absolutely," McVay said. ""Football is football. He's done a great job at a bunch of different levels. He's a motivator."

Despite McVay and others hyping up Sanders as an NFL Coach, it may not happen for a while at least. Speaking to Cowboys Country, Sanders shot down any notion of him making the jump to the professional level.

"I don't have any desire or ambition to coach in the NFL... I have a problem with men getting their checks and not doing their jobs. I would be too tough as a coach in the NFL because I still have those old-school attributes," Sanders said.

Part of McVay's admiration for Sanders comes from his childhood days of watching the cornerback dominate the NFL. McVay's grandfather John McVay was the general manager of the San Francisco 49ers when they acquired Sanders, and seeing "Prime Time" up close made him a lifelong fan.

"He won Defensive Player of the Year the one year he was there [in San Francisco] and they won the Super Bowl," McVay said. "I've always loved Deion."

Considering how McVay has changed the NFL since his hiring in 2017, it only makes sense that he'd admire a fellow trailblazer in Sanders.
