It's been 215 days since the Georgia Bulldogs bludgeoned the TCU Horned Frogs in the national championship 65-7. In that game, then-Bulldogs quarterback Stetson Bennett threw four touchdown passes, and Saturday, he tossed his first score at SoFi Stadium since Georgia's second national championship victory.

The 2023 fourth-round pick found highly touted rookie wide receiver Puka Nacua for an 11-yard touchdown late in the first half of the Los Angeles Rams' preseason opener against the Los Angeles Chargers. Bennett gave the Rams' offense life, despite completing just three of his seven pass attempts for 37 yards and the one score.

Bennett replaced starter Brett Rypien after three drives. The two quarterbacks were listed earlier in the week both as No. 2 on the depth chart behind Matthew Stafford.

The Blackshear, GA., native's first drive of the preseason had its ups and downs, getting away with a few passes in tight windows that could have been intercepted. One of those was a third-down pass attempt that was knocked down by Chargers cornerback Cameron Brown, but safety JT Woods smacked Rams wide receiver Ben Skowronek in the helmet after the play and was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct, setting up first and goal.

Following a holding penalty on Skowronek, Bennett rifled his third-and-goal pass, hitting Nacua between the numbers.

The touchdown was Nacua's first of the preseason.
