As former Los Angeles Rams and current Buffalo Bills linebacker Von Miller is set to begin his 12th NFL season, he has started to ponder his next career option, hoping it will remain within the NFL.

During an interview with Sports Illustrated, Miller expressed his aspiration to be in charge of an NFL team after he retires.

"Whenever he does retire, though, Miller plans to stay in football. He's already working on that, having decided a few years ago and confirmed more deeply since, at least internally, that he wants to pivot into becoming a personnel executive. His goal is to (one day) run an NFL team, Sports Illustrated writes."

Miller would not be the first NFL great to jump into a general manager role. A notable example is Pro Football Hall of Fame safety, John Lynch, who currently serves as the general manager of the San Francisco 49ers. Since taking over as the 49ers' general manager in 2017, he has helped lead them to three NFC Championship games and one Super Bowl appearance.

Miller also has support from his peers if he were to leap to a general manager role. Rams' general manager Les Snead spoke with Sports Illustrated and expressed his belief that Miller could effectively utilize one of his unique abilities in a general manager position.

"Players like Von have a sixth sense of what a collective that can earn special looks like, feels like and smells like … and they know how to push and pull the collective toward the mission. … This would be the superpower he could tap into as a GM," Sports Illustrated writes.

While the idea of Miller as a potential general manager is entertaining, it's crucial to remember that he still possesses talent on the field. His focus for this year remains on helping the Bills secure their first-ever Super Bowl victory.
