Rams QB Matthew Stafford Joins Elite Company in Win vs. Saints

Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford continued his month-long hot streak in Thursday night's win over the New Orleans Saints.

Matthew Stafford has been red hot under center for the Los Angeles Rams this month, and he joined some elite company in Thursday's 30-22 win over the New Orleans Saints at SoFi Stadium.

Stafford became just the fourth quarterback in NFL history to throw 10-plus touchdowns and no interceptions in the month of December in a single season, joining the likes of Aaron Rodgers (2021), Drew Brees (2019) and Tom Brady (2010). His performance has been a big part of the Rams' revitalization in the latter half of this season, and head coach Sean McVay acknowledged as much on Thursday night following the win.

Matthew Stafford

"It's been outstanding," McVay said. "His leadership, he's feeling good too. People don't understand how much he was pushing through with the thumb injury, but this guy is a stud. He elevates everybody, myself included, and he's playing outstanding. I wouldn't want anyone else in the world leading our team than him."

Stafford is obviously a veteran, joining the NFL in the 2009 season, so he knows a thing or two about how to be successful in this league. Still, the job he has been able to do, especially over the last month-plus, for the Rams cannot be understated, and his team is now over the .500 mark for the first time since Week 1.

The Rams' win did wonders for their Wild Card chances, as well, giving them the tiebreaker over the Saints in that race. Los Angeles will next face the New York Giants on the road on New Year's Eve, and kickoff is slated for 10 a.m. PT. The game will be televised on FOX.
