Could Spencer Rattler Be Matthew Stafford's Heir As Rams Quarterback?

Matthew Stafford may be nearing the end of his great NFL career, so it might be time for the Los Angeles Rams to start looking for their next field general.

The season has officially ended, so it is time to start looking ahead to what the Los Angeles Rams are going to do in this year's NFL Draft.

In a recent article by Rams Wire's Brock Vierra, he interviewed Peter Andrisani, who many call "The Mock Draft Guy", and asked him about who the Rams should be looking at heading into the draft.

One of the more intriguing players that they talked about was South Carolina quarterback Spencer Rattler.

"Rattler was far and away the best QB at the Senior Bowl this past go around," Andrisani said. "The talents and traits are clearly there, and we’ve finally seen the maturity, I believe in Rattler. McVay’s offense is a perfect system to fall into for Rattler. It caters to most of his strengths. McVay is a brilliant offensive mind that can squeeze every ounce of potential out of seemingly every player. Rattler would benefit greatly from landing in LA."

Rattler threw for over 3000 yards in his senior season at South Carolina, and he had one of the best completion percentages amongst starting quarterbacks at just under 70 percent.

Not only that, but his willingness to make the big play could fit in very well with the Rams offense and Sean McVay's scheme that he has built in Los Angeles.

Matthew Stafford looks to have a few more seasons left in him, as the veteran quarterback just turned 36 at the beginning of the month.

That said, if the Rams have a chance to take their quarterback of the future in the draft and have him sit under Stafford until he decides to hang it up, it might be in the team's best interest to take it.
