Former Baltimore Raven Jadeveon Clowney Signs With Carolina Panthers

Jadeveon Clowney is officially moving on from the Baltimore Ravens after signing with the Carolina Panthers.

Jadeveon Clowney apparently found Charlotte to be the cat's meow.

Per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the top pick of the 2014 NFL Draft has agreed to terms with the Carolina Panthers despite rumored interest from the New York Jets, ending his time with the Baltimore Ravens after a single season. Adam Schefter of ESPN further reported that Clowney will get a two-year deal worth as much as $24 million.

Carolina has since confirmed the signing, which will bring the Rock Hill, SC native back to the Carolinas after he made a name for himself on the collegiate circuit with the University of South Carolina Gamecocks.

Thus ends Clowney's tour in purple, a single campaign that saw him play a full season for the first time since 2017. Clowney took advantage of his health, trying his career-best with 9.5 sacks. The 31-year-old previously spent time in Houston, Seattle, Tennessee, and Cleveland before inking a $2.5 million one-year deal with Charm City last offseason.

Head coach John Harbaugh previously mentioned that he was "hopeful" to retain Clowney on next year's roster but he joins several other notable departures such as Odell Beckham Jr., Devin Duvernay, Gus Edwards, Patrick Queen, Geno Stone, and Kevin Zeitler.

Clowney will now be part of a Charlotte reclamation project coming off a brutal two-win campaign. Left without the top draft pick after a trade with the Chicago Bears last spring, the Panthers have splurged on the veteran front by adding Clowney, K'Lavon Chaisson, Jordan Fuller, Josey Jewell, and Diontae Johnson.
