Ravens Release Statement on Francis Scott Key Bridge Collapse

Tragedy struck the Baltimore area early Tuesday morning as the Francis Scott Key bridge collapsed after being struck by a large container ship that lost power. The collapse sent vehicles and people tumbling into the Patapsco River.

The Baltimore Ravens released a statement regarding the tragedy on Tuesday.

"Our hearts go out to those who hae been affected by the horrific Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse early this morning.

"We are grateful for the first respnders and local leaders who are on scene to lead the search and resue efforts and to support those families who have been most directly impacted.

"We know that the Baltimore community will stand togetherin the aftermath of this tragedy"

Baltimore City Fire Chief James Wallace told reporters the scene was "an active search and rescue." The Coast Guard was taking part. Six people remain unaccounted for per Maryland Department of Transportation Secretary Paul Wiedefeld. All six are part of a construction crew working on the bridge at the time. Two other workers were rescued from the water.

Ravens players also reached out on social media offering thoughts and prayers.

Baltimore receiver Tylan Wallace posted on X, "Please say your Prayers for Baltimore." Corner Brandon Stephens commented, "Thoughts and prayers for the city of Baltimore and the families involved."
