Baltimore Ravens star cornerback Marlon Humphrey is expected to miss the start of the regular season after getting surgery for an injury on his foot.

"We'll see the length of time that he's going to miss," defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald said. "We're gonna miss him absolutely. But we do have good players in our back end and the expectation is to come in and to produce and to execute and play the way that we play.

According to CBS Sports, Humphrey is expected to miss at least a month from the surgery. The Ravens open their season at home against the Texans on Sep. 10.

Humphrey could also possibly miss Baltimore's second and third games against the Bengals and the Colts respectively.

It's an unfortunate injury for a team that is already thin at the cornerback position. The Ravens just lost Marcus Peters to the Las Vegas Raiders in free agency this offseason. Another Baltimore cornerback, Rock Ya-Sin, is expected to miss time after suffering a knee injury in training camp.

Additionally, Ravens cornerbacks Jalyn Armour-Davis and Arthur Maulet are also sidelined with injuries at the moment. Baltimore has turned to the free agent market for temporary relief, bringing in cornerbacks Ronald Darby and Anthony Brown in for visits.

Humphrey has been a staple of the Ravens defense since his debut in 2017. He is one of three Baltimore players to record 10+ forced fumbles and interceptions in a career. The other two are Hall of Fame players and Ravens legends Ed Reed and Ray Lewis.
