Baltimore Ravens WR Nelson Agholor Adding Veteran Presence to Todd Monken's Offense

The Baltimore Ravens have assembled one of the most potent offenses in the NFL, thanks to some dynamic talent at receiver, as well as veteran contributors such as Nelson Agholor.

Baltimore Ravens receiver Nelson Agholor may not be the highest-profile pass catcher on the team’s roster. However, he continues to make the most of his opportunities.

Agholor caught his lone target for a 12-yard touchdown in Sunday's 38-6 win over the Detroit Lions at M&T Bank Stadium. It was the 30-year-old wideout's second scoring reception of the season. Albeit in limited action thus far, Agholor is proving to be a solid option for coach John Harbaugh and quarterback Lamar Jackson for the Ravens offense in 2023.

Baltimore agreed to a one-year deal with Agholor in late March. The eight-year veteran joined the Ravens, having previously compiled 4,246 yards on 340 catches with 31 touchdowns throughout five seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles, one with the Las Vegas Raiders and two with the New England Patriots. Though he has made only nominal additions to those totals, Agholor continues uses his speed and ability to get open over the top on vertical routes, regularly finding separation from his opponents. Including his two touchdown receptions, Agholor has 17 catches for 222 yards (13.1 yards-per-catch) through six games played.

With 2022 first-rounder Rashod Bateman having worked his way back from a Lisfranc injury, the Ravens have compiled an impressive three-receiver set which includes Odell Beckham, Jr. and rookie Zay Flowers. Still, the Ravens, under offensive coordinator Todd Monken, have drawn up situational opportunities for him to showcase his speed and experience.

Moving forward, it will be interesting to monitor Agholor's playing time. The USC product played 37 percent of the snaps Sunday, which was fourth among Baltimore receivers behind Flowers, Beckham and Bateman. It was the first time since Week 2 that he failed to log at least 50 percent of the snaps. While he is not expected to challenge Baltimore's top three receivers for their respective spots on the depth chart, Agholor's experience will be invaluable to the team as they begin to make their run to obtain a spot in the 2023 postseason.

Baltimore will travel to Glendale for their Week 8 contest against the Arizona Cardinals. Kickoff is set for 4:25 p.m. from State Farm Stadium.
