Ravens Add Explosive Playmaker at WR: Latest NFL Mock Draft

Former USC Trojan Jordan Addison could add a new dimension to the Baltimore Ravens offense in 2023.

As the Baltimore Ravens continue to keep their options open when it comes to retaining the services of quarterback Lamar Jackson, the team is also looking to the upcoming NFL Draft to help bolster its offense.

While Ohio State's Jaxon Smith-Njigba, TCU's Quentin Johnston and Boston College’s Zay Flowers have been popular, early first-round mock draft selections for the Ravens at wideout, Baltimore might be smart to give strong consideration to the latest projection from The Draft Network if they are intent on upgrading their receiving corps.

With the No. 22 pick in the first round, NFL Draft analyst Damien Parson has Baltimore selecting USC standout wide receiver Jordan Addison — with whom the Ravens are set to meet in the coming weeks.

“Let’s assume Lamar Jackson remains a Raven in 2023. If so, adding wide receiver talent is important. Jordan Addison would be a nice complement to Rashod Bateman and Devin Duvernay at the wide receiver position. His route-running and ability to find soft spots in zone as a quick passing option would benefit this offense.”

Addison began his collegiate career at the University of Pittsburgh, where he compiled 160 catches for 2,259 yards and 21 touchdowns in only two seasons as a Panther. After transferring to USC for the 2022 season, Addison logged 59 receptions, 875 yards and eight touchdowns.

On the field, the former Trojan is an outstanding route runner with above-average ball skills. His ability to create separation from his defender makes him a continuous threat to break for a big play. As a result, he has the potential to be an impact player as a rookie.

Despite entering this season’s Draft cycle either at or near the top of the receiver rankings, Addison's stock suffered a bit of a decline in the aftermath of his Combine performance. Although he ran an average 4.49 40-yard dash, his Relative Athletic Score registered only 5.8 out of a possible 10.

As a result, Addison now has a greater chance of being available when the Ravens are scheduled to select. Though the 21-year-old clearly possesses first-round talent, his difficulties in creating yards-after-the-catch would require some work to properly assimilate into their offensive scheme. As such, he would likely sit as the third option on Baltimore’s depth chart, behind both Bateman and Duvernay.

Still, his big-play ability would ensure that the Ravens maintain one of the most versatile and exciting offensive attacks in the NFL.
