Ravens' Kyle Hamilton Receives Praise from Super Bowl Safety, Chiefs' Justin Reid
Ravens safety Kyle Hamilton did not suffer the dreaded "sophomore slump" that some players have experienced in their second season in the NFL.
Coming off an impressive rookie season that saw the Notre Dame product tally 62 tackles, 46 solo, and five quarterback hits in 2022, Hamilton only got better in his second year, and fellow players around the league noticed.
At the Super Bowl this week, Chiefs safety Justin Reid gave Hamilton praise on media day from Las Vegas.
"Kyle Hamilton, he's going to be a star," Reid said. "I mean, the guy's got length. He's physical. He blitzes, he makes plays in zone. He plays man coverage. He had a tall task guarding [Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce] all day. I know from personal experience that it's not easy to do at all. That kid's going to be a star, man. I can't wait to see where his career takes him."
Reid is considered to be one of the best safeties in the league and knows a little something about playing the position.
Hamilton's second season saw his numbers jump drastically. After appearing in 16 games with just four starts in his rookie year, Hamilton's playing time improved in Year 2. He started 15 games and registered four interceptions including a pick-6, forced a fumble, and tallied three sacks. He improved with 81 tackles with 63 solo while registering four quarterback hits.
Hamilton will enter Year 3 of a four-year deal in 2024, and if his production continues to increase, the Ravens would be wise to extend him sooner rather than later.
