NFL Mock Draft: Ravens Solidify Offensive Line With Georgia Standout

The Baltimore Ravens' offensive line had its moments this season and with offensive linemen Kevin Zeitler and John Simpson hitting free agency, Eric DeCosta fortifies the unit.

When the Baltimore Ravens' offensive line is healthy, one can make the argument that is one of, if not the best line in football.

Of course, injuries are part and parcel of the game and the Ravens dealt with their fair share of them this season as only one of their starting five played every regular season game (John Simpson).

With the offensive line having both starting guards Kevin Zeitler and Simpson entering free agency, the Ravens need to fortify it and in the first round of the NFL Draft, CBS Sports has Baltimore selecting Georgia standout Amarius Mims.

"Mims has top-10 potential when he's healthy, something he struggled with for much of the 2023 season," CBS Sports writes.

Mims

Now, we see the irony here as the Ravens' offense line has had trouble staying healthy, and Baltimore selects an offensive lineman who also struggles to stay healthy considering Mims missed half of the 2023 season and yet is still seen as a first-round pick tells us the talent he possesses.

But in Mims, the Ravens would be getting a stud tackle who has enormous upside as his sheer size (6-7, 340lbs) coupled with his impressive explosiveness and speed mean he can do anything and everything asked of him and potentially be a cornerstone for the franchise.

One of Mims' calling cards is his pass protection and given how Lamar Jackson in Todd Monken's scheme had the most pass attempts in his career (307), having Mims who excels in pass protection feels like a good choice.

While Mims is listed as a right tackle, his versatility means he can play in different positions along the offensive line which could also interest the Ravens.

Getting a grip on Mims' injury issues during the draft process will ultimately determine how high he is selected, but when healthy, he could easily be seen as one of the best tackles in the draft.
