Ex-Ravens OC Predicts Breakout Season For Odell Beckham
Baltimore Ravens receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has not played a down in the NFL since Super Bowl LVI with the Los Angeles Rams, but could the veteran be poised for a breakout campaign in 2023?
Since the 2021-22 NFL season Beckham has faced an uphill climb getting back on the gridiron. The star wideout sat out the entire 2022 season after re-injuring an ACL that ended his day early during his first Super Bowl appearance.
Beckham signed with Baltimore this offseason in hopes of regaining his old form, as the veteran has not recorded a 1,000-yard season since 2019. The 30-year-old is back to 100 percent, however, and has turned heads throughout training camp.
Former Ravens offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg is impressed with Beckham so far and has high hopes for the three-time Pro Bowler.
"A healthy Odell Beckham Jr. is primed for a breakout," Mornhinweg writes. "He's a talented, talented receiver. If he's healthy, he is going to have a great season."
Mornhinweg mentioned that the other new receivers in Baltimore's offense should also flourish due to Beckham's presence.
"The receiver opposite a great talent like Beckham Jr. is usually highly productive," Mornhinweg writes.
In 2019 with the Cleveland Browns, Beckham was paired with Jarvis Landry who recorded 83 receptions for 1,174 receiving yards and six touchdowns.
In addition to Beckham, the Ravens selected Zay Flowers in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft and signed free agent Nelson Agholor to give superstar Lamar Jackson more weapons in an offense that is expected to become pass-heavy under new offensive coordinator Todd Monken.
A healthy 2023 will not only benefit Beckham, but will also open the door for other receivers to make plays in Baltimore's new offense.
