Ravens LB Patrick Queen: 'In Demand' Free Agent Next Offseason?

Baltimore Ravens linebacker Patrick Queen becomes an unrestricted free agent next offseason. Will the 2019 first-round pick receive a payday?

Just as the dust settles begins to settle from this offseason, the Baltimore Ravens must get back to the drawing board on their future.

After signing quarterback Lamar Jackson and linebacker Roquan Smith to lucrative contracts, Baltimore has another young star to figure out the future of - Patrick Queen.

"While Queen hasn't quite lived up to his first-round draft status—and Baltimore didn't exercise his fifth-year option—he's a quality starter," Bleacher Report writes. "He logged 117 tackles and five sacks last season while allowing an opposing passer rating of only 83.1 in coverage."

A 2019 first-round pick, Queen logged 106 total tackles (nine for loss), three sacks, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries in his first season, en route to a spot on the PFWA All-Rookie Team.

And despite taking a step back in 2021, the LSU product bounced back with a career-year last season - posting career-highs in tackles (117), sacks (five) quarterback hits (14) and interceptions (two).

"Another strong campaign will have Queen in demand on the 2024 free-agent market, and the Ravens are projected to have just $4 million in cap space next offseason," Bleacher Report writes. "They have $10.5 million available now and can afford to work out an agreement with the 23-year-old."

After committing $100 million to Smith over five years, Queen could ask a price tag in the same vicinity if he plays well this season. However, whether or not Baltimore would be willing to pay the price is the question.
