Ravens LB Del'Shawn Phillips: Keep or Cut?

Del'Shawn Phillips could be one of the final players on the Baltimore Ravens roster, or he could be one of the last to be cut.

The Baltimore Ravens have a crowded linebacker corps, and space is needed for the 53-man roster cutdown on Tuesday.

For veteran Del'Shawn Phillips, there's a chance he could be kept as one of the final linebackers, but Bleacher Report believes he will be cut.

"Patrick Queen, Roquan Smith and rookie Trenton Simpson are veritable locks, which likely leaves Malik Harrison, Del'Shawn Phillips, Kristian Welch and Josh Ross competing for two roster spots," Bleacher Report writes.

"Phillips should be the odd man out here. He, Welch, Harrison and Ross can all play special teams, so Baltimore should prioritize players who can also contribute on defense."

Cutting Phillips would save the Ravens $1 million, so there's added incentive to part ways with him.

He's also 26 years old, making him less likely to make the roster compared to his younger counterparts.

However, his experience could help his case as he's entering his fourth year in the NFL. He played in 16 games last year for the Ravens, almost exclusively on special teams ... something coach John Harbaugh may value when making his final decisions.

Phillips will get one last opportunity to state his case to the Ravens as to why he should make the roster when they visit the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the preseason finale on Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at Raymond James Stadium.
