Ravens S Kyle Hamilton Looks For Expanded Role in 2023

The Ravens traded veteran safety Chuck Clark earlier this offseason, paving the way for Hamilton, Baltimore's 2022 first-round pick, to be the starter. Hamilton didn't exceed expectations in his rookie year, posting 62 tackles, two sacks, one forced fumble and five passes defensed. However, the 22-year-old had limited playing time, but got better with every opportunity. And he'll likely only continue to do so.

With Clark now playing for the Jets, Hamilton should have a larger role in the secondary - most likely a more traditional place on the Ravens defense. And he says he can fulfill that role perfectly.

“I feel like I can slide into that role for sure and perform at a high level,” Hamilton said, via the team’s website. “I feel like that’s what the Ravens drafted me fore and that’s what I’m here for, and I feel like I can definitely produce.

“... It’s just different seeing the game from different levels, not backpedaling as much, and just getting in the groove. That’s what OTAs are for. I have a lot to learn in both areas, but I feel like if I can put it all together, it will be really good.”

Hamilton was selected by the Ravens with the No. 14 overall pick because they clearly think he has the ability to be elite. Beginning in 2023, he should have the opportunity to prove it.
