Ravens Offense Under Todd Monken Key to 'Unlocking Lamar Jackson'

Todd Monken's hire as Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator is all about one thing...making Lamar Jackson the best version of himself.

The Baltimore Ravens offense under Todd Monken will look vastly different from the ones of previous years. After being a predominantly run-first offense under Greg Roamn with Lamar Jackson leading the way, Monken's more vertical style of offense is now being learned.

But how good can this Ravens offense be under Monken be?

Bleacher Reports' Brent Sobleski has listed Monken's hiring as a top-five hire in the NFL this offseason.

"Todd Monken's hire as the Baltimore Ravens' offensive coordinator is all about unlocking the Super Saiyan-version of quarterback Lamar Jackson," Brent Sobleski wrote.

"The additions of Odell Beckham Jr. and first-round rookie Zay Flowers at wide receiver should go a long way to upgrading what was one of the league's worst position groups. Plus, a healthy Rashod Bateman returns after last year's season-ending foot injury," Sobleski wrote. "Monken's vertical-based passing attack will help stretch the field and create even more opportunities for everyone in Baltimore's offense."

It is hard not to envision this version of the Ravens being able to score more points than in previous seasons. While there will no doubt be some growing pains as the scheme is learned, coupled with two new receivers getting chemistry built with Jackson, on paper, it looks explosive.

With Monken "handing the keys" to Jackson this offseason and a handful of offensive weapons led by Odell Beckham Jr., Baltimore could be just as threatening through the air as it is on the ground.

Sobleski calls it a top-five hire, and based on early indications, it's hard to argue otherwise, but the proof will come when the regular season rolls around

But for now, everything is coming up Baltimore, and Lamar with his new offensive group is loving the start to life under Monken.
