New Orleans Saints Bring Back Late Addition From Last Year's Squad

The Saints announced the addition of Shemar Jean-Charles, who ended up appearing in three games for the team late last season.

The Saints announced one official addition on Monday, as they signed defensive back Shemar Jean-Charles to the roster. It's something we learned about Friday and Saints News Network confirmed the news.

Jean-Charles spent time with the Saints and 49ers last year, primarily being a special teams player. He was originally drafted by the Packers in 2021 as a fifth-round pick. He'd get released by Green Bay during final cuts in late August last season and then get picked up by San Francisco a couple of days later. After getting promoted to the active roster, he got waived on Nov. 23 and was picked up by New Orleans six days later on the practice squad. He appeared in three games for the Saints.

Jean-Charles' experience on special teams could help him emerge as a dark horse candidate for the roster, as the team has lost several key players from last year's squad.
