When the Seahawks put in a claim and were awarded Josh Gordon off waivers on November 1, speculation began running rampant about who he would replace on the 53-man roster.

While fourth-round pick Gary Jennings was ultimately released by the Seahawks to create roster space and landed with the Dolphins, however, he’s not the only receiver who will be negatively impacted by Gordon’s presence.

Gearing up to battle the NFC West-leading San Francisco on Monday Night Football, veteran receiver Jaron Brown will be a healthy scratch and held out as one of Seattle’s seven inactives. The 29-year old had played in all 25 regular season games since signing a two-year deal prior to the 2018 season.

Brown has seen his offensive snaps decline in recent weeks, playing 34 total combined snaps over the past two weeks. And that was without the talented Gordon, who drew praise from coach Pete Carroll for an impressive first week of practice with the Seahawks.

“He was very impressive in terms of picking stuff up, studying overtime. He fit in really well. He’s a really good athlete. You can really tell that he’s got a lot of potential to be a big-time player. It was fun seeing him on the practice field. Did a nice job.”

Gordon won’t be the only new Seahawk making his team debut, as safety Quandre Diggs will finally dress after missing the past two games with a hamstring injury. According to Carroll, he shouldn’t have any limitations after returning to practice in full this week.

“He’s had three weeks of preparation and he’s been in on everything,” Carroll commented. “He’s been around with all the walk throughs and all that stuff. He studies really well. Football totally makes sense to him. It’s not a mystery at all. He’s ready to play. We will not be restricting him in any way.”

It remains to be seen where Diggs will play, as Carroll has been mum about whether he’ll see snaps at safety or nickel cornerback in his first game action for Seattle.

Away from Brown, here’s the Seahawks full list of inactives for Monday night:
