With the calendar flipping to July, NFL training camps will begin around the league in a matter of weeks. To celebrate the new incoming season, we will be ranking each player on the Seahawks 90-man roster. These rankings won't simply be based on pure talent. Positional importance, salary, standing on the depth chart, and draft positioning will be among a number of factors considered as we introduce each member of the squad.

6. Shaquill Griffin, Cornerback, #26

Height/Weight: 6-foot, 198 pounds

2019 Stats: 65 tackles, 13 passes defensed in 14 games

Coming off a disappointing 2018 campaign in which he gave himself a D- grade, Griffin overhauled his offseason program substantially by hiring a personal chef and prioritizing film study, particularly when it came to watching the 2013 "Legion of Boom." Showing up for offseason workouts trimmed down to 194 pounds and playing faster with less fatigue, these changes proved instrumental to the ex-UCF standout breaking out in his third season in Seattle's secondary. Though he didn't intercept any passes, he ranked among league leaders with 13 passes defensed and held opposing quarterbacks to a 57 percent completion rate when targeting him, nearly a 10 percent improvement from 2018. He also set a career-high with 65 tackles and surrendered over 200 yards less in coverage. Initially named an alternate, a couple of injuries paved the way for him to play in the first of what could be many Pro Bowl appearances for the budding star.

Where He Fits Into Seahawks 2020 Plans: Still just 25 years old, the Seahawks believe Griffin remains far from a finished product and expect him to take another step forward towards becoming one of the best cornerbacks in the game. If he can find a way to start turning some of his pass deflections into interceptions and avoids the occasional coverage lapse that has plagued him from time to time, his ascendance at the position should continue heading towards free agency.

5. Quandre Diggs, Safety, #37

Height/Weight: 5-foot-9, 197 pounds

2019 Stats: 21 tackles, three interceptions, and three passes defensed in five games with Seahawks

With his talents unbeknownst to most fans while playing for the lowly Lions, Diggs enjoyed a coming out party of sorts after being shipped to the Seahawks prior to the trade deadline in exchange for a fifth-round pick. Once he recovered from a hamstring injury and broke into the starting lineup in Week 10, his presence in center field instantly transformed Seattle's defense and turned the team into a legitimate contender. Picking off three passes - including a pick-six against Jared Goff - and forcing a fumble himself, the Seahawks amassed 16 turnovers during his first five starts at free safety and went 4-1 during that stretch, with the only defeat coming to the Rams in Week 14. Further illustrating his importance, after suffering an ankle sprain in Week 15, the Seahawks failed to generate a single turnover over the next two games with him out of the lineup and lost both contests to the Cardinals and 49ers.

Where He Fits Into Seahawks 2020 Plans: Entering his first full season with the organization, the Seahawks will be counting on Diggs to provide the same leadership and ball production he displayed upon his arrival last October over the course of a full 16-game season. As long as he can stay healthy, playing in a scheme well-suited for his strengths, he should have an excellent shot at making his first Pro Bowl squad and could push for All-Pro honors if he makes the same impact as a year ago.
