NFL Mock Draft: Seahawks Select 'Ultra-Versatile' Lineman in First Round

The Seattle Seahawks' offensive line needs improvement and in Bucky Brooks' latest mock draft, Washington Huskies star Troy Fautanu is there for the taking to fortify Ryan Grubb's unit.

The Seattle Seahawks' offensive line lost key pieces in free agency as guard Damien Lewis signed with the Carolina Panthers, and Evan Brown signed with the Arizona Cardinals.

While there were additions in center Nick Harris and Tremayne Anchrum, there are still starting spots that need to be solidified for offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb's unit.

With Grubb's background in working with offensive lines, one can easily imagine that he will be hands on during the draft process if indeed it is a lineman the Seahawks take in the first round.

In Bucky Brooks' latest NFL mock draft for NFL.com, the Seahawks do select a new offensive lineman, and as it turns out, it's someone who Grubb will be really familiar with in Washington's Troy Fautanu.

"The ultra-versatile front-line blocker reunites with his college offensive coordinator (new Seahawks offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb) as a potential plug-and-play starter at multiple spots," Brooks wrote.

With Fautanu, the Seahawks are getting a versatile lineman who can play at either guard or tackle. Last season with Washington, the 6-4, 317-pound mauler only allowed two sacks in his 13 games, while the season prior, he played both tackle and guard.

The Seahawks need offensive line help and with Fautanu, Geno Smith could be getting one of the best protectors in the draft class.

While Fautanu's run blocking needs work, there is big upside for the Washington standout. With his knowledge of Grubb and how he likes his offense to operate, it could be a smooth transition for the tackle.

The Seahawks have plenty of needs heading into the draft, but the offensive line feels like the most pressing one, and in Fautanu, Seattle gets its left tackle/guard for the next decade.
