Seattle Seahawks Coach Shane Waldron 'Expected' to Be Hired by Chicago Bears

The Seattle Seahawks are reportedly losing another big piece of their coaching staff following the firing of Pete Carroll.

Shane Waldron

Per reports Monday from NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, Seahawks offensive coordinator Shane Waldron is expected to be hired into the same role with the Chicago Bears.

"The Bears are working towards a deal to hire Shane Waldron as their new offensive coordinator, per sources," Pelissero tweeted. "Waldron, 44, spent the past three seasons as Seattle’s OC. Now he’s expected to land in Chicago, which owns the No. 1 pick with a big question looming at QB."

Pelissero had originally reported on Jan. 10 that the Bears had requested Waldron for an interview. He now has a chance to get creative with the dynamic Justin Fields at quarterback for the Bears.

Though it's unclear if Fields is Chicago's true franchise signal-caller, he's an electric player that showed some nice strides this season. In 13 games, he posted a career-high 2,562 passing yards to go along with 16 touchdowns. Fields tossed just nine picks, though that the touchdown-interception ratio still leaves a bit more to be desired.

Under Waldron, the Seahawks offense under-performed despite being littered with talent. Seattle averaged the 12th-fewest offensive yards per game (322.9) this season.

Now with Chicago, he'll look to turn things around for that offense and franchise.
