Seahawks Guard Damien Lewis Signs With Panthers - Details

Free agent guard Damien Lewis is heading across the country after four years with the Seattle Seahawks.

After starting his career with the Seattle Seahawks, guard Damien Lewis is taking his talents elsewhere.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapport, the Carolina Panthers are signing Lewis to a four-year, $53 million deal in free agency.

A 2020 third-round pick out of LSU, Lewis started all 61 games he played for Seattle, but his time in the Pacific Northwest has been somewhat of a roller coaster. He had strong showings in 2020 and 2022, finishing with solid Pro Football Focus grades over 70. In 2021 and 2023, though, he finished with grades below 60.

Now, Lewis goes to Carolina in an attempt to help rebuild an offensive line that allowed 65 sacks last season, tied for second-most in the league. The Panthers also signed former Miami Dolphins guard Robert Hunt to a five-year, $100 million contract earlier on Monday.

Lewis will also reunite with Panthers head coach Dave Canales and offensive coordinator Brad Idzik, both of whom were Seahawks assistants before joining the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last offseason.

With Lewis now headed east, the Seahawks now have a noticeable hole along the offensive line, one that they'll have to address at some point this offseason.
