Former Seahawks WR Calls Cowboys' Dan Quinn The 'Easy Pick' to Replace Pete Carroll

The Seattle Seahawks are on the hunt for a new head coach. Is Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn an "easy" option to replace Pete Carroll?

The hunt for Pete Carroll's successor as Seattle Seahawks head coach is on. After a decorated career with the NFC West franchise, times are changing.

With attention now firmly focused on who will be the new captain of the ship, there are several viable candidates that general manager John Schneider and Co. will be looking at.

One is Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn.

Given Quinn's history with the franchise, former Seahawks receiver Michael Bumpus thinks that going after Quinn is the "easy" pick.

“The reason it’s the easy pick is because it’s familiar,” Bumpus said on Bump and Stacy on Seattle Sports. “Dan Quinn’s been here, the 12s know Dan Quinn. You have good memories of Dan Quinn. He’s been across the league, coached at a couple places.”

Quinn being an smooth fit is hard to argue with given his ties to the organization already, but will what transpired at AT&T Stadium in the Wildcard Round against the Green Bay Packers have any bearing on what the Seahawks do?

Clearly not, as the interview slip has already been given to interview Quinn.

But Bumpus also added that going after a familiar face might not be the best thing for the franchise. Instead, getting a fresh face in the door could be more beneficial, but did say that the Seahawks could still go with Quinn regardless.

“I think that people want a fresh start,” Bumpus added. “They don’t want Dan Quinn, but I could easily see Jody and John sitting down and saying, ‘Alright, let’s run this thing back, man. We know Dan.’ It’s a safe pick.”

Exactly which route the Seahawks choose to go down over the next couple of weeks will be interesting. Quinn seems like the most logical choice to be Carroll's replacement, but that doesn't mean it's the right one.

Does Seattle want someone familiar, or a head coach who has no ties to the organization? We're about to find out.
